Microsoft Subscriptions Movement Between Reseller Portals of a Distributor

Overview

The process describes how a Microsoft subscription can be moved from one Reseller portal to another Reseller portal of the same Distributor.

In this article:

NOTE! Currently, only the license-based Microsoft CSP and NCE subscriptions can be automatically moved between the Resellers. In the near future, the ability to transfer subscriptions without an MPN ID will also be added to the platform.

Moving Subscription

Resellers with the MPN ID.

If an Indirect Reseller is onboarded with the MPN ID, subscriptions can only be moved to that Reseller portal by assigning that MPN ID to the affected subscriptions in the Microsoft Partner Center.

Once the MPN ID is updated, the affected subscription will automatically re-sync from the old Reseller portal to the new one.

Additionally, a new Reseller Relationship link (with correct MPN ID) might need to be generated in the Microsoft Partner Center and accepted by the affected customer (optional).

Resellers without the MPN ID.

If an Indirect Reseller is onboarded without the MPN ID, subscriptions can be moved to that Reseller portal by Creating a ticket to AppXite Support

NOTE! For Azure Reserved Instances and One-Time subscriptions, the MPN ID cannot be changed from the Microsoft Partner Center UI. Such requests should be submitted as Support Requests to Microsoft Support.

Summary

In case a subscription needs to be transferred to another Reseller portal, you should check whether the reseller was added using an MPN ID. If so, the transfer can be done by updating the subscription MPN ID in the Microsoft Partner Center. Otherwise, a support ticket needs to be created.
