Perpetual Software

Perpetual software in CSP

The addition of perpetual software to the Cloud Solution Provider program in the new commerce experience will reduce the time and costs for partners associated with managing multiple licensing programs and lead to improved sales, operational, and management capabilities. Partners can expand their businesses by offering diverse solutions and managed services with the flexibility to combine licenses and managed services for hybrid cloud environments, further accelerating customers’ transitions to the cloud. Customers benefit from a simplified approach and greater flexibility in how they purchase software licenses in a way that’s easy to understand, that directly improves licensing asset management, and with predictable costs.

What is perpetual license Microsoft?

A perpetual license payment provides the rights to run the application suite as long as one wants, even long after Microsoft stops serving security updates if the user is willing to take risks. It can be installed on just one PC or Mac, and so is tied to that device, not to its current user.

Introducing perpetual licenses in CSP

What? - Expand the Cloud Solution Provider program's offer catalog to include perpetual software licenses for on-premises use by the customer

Why? -  Allow services partners to meet a broader set of customer needs and drive customer cloud transformation

Who? - Qualified indirect provider partners initially; expanding to all partners in the Cloud Solution Provider program in early 2021

When? - The calendar year 2021 All partners participating in the CSP program (direct bill partners/indirect providers/ indirect resellers)

How it will work?

Qualified partners can sell on-premises perpetual software licenses (L-only) through the Cloud Solution Provider offer catalog → Customers make a one-time, upfront payment for the licenses → Through the Cloud Solution Provider program, partners facilitate the procurement, license key access/activation, and product media/download fulfillment of licensed products.
