Access Microsoft 365 admin center

To begin the Microsoft Copilot setup process, navigate to the Microsoft 365 admin center using your administrator credentials.

1. Go to: Microsoft 365 admin center
2. Navigate to Home > Advanced deployment guides & assistance > Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 setup guide
   
3. Select the Next button to proceed
   

Configure Microsoft Copilot setup

The setup wizard will guide you through the initial configuration steps to prepare your Organization for Microsoft Copilot integration.

1. Validate that you have all prerequisites in place for your Organization
2. Review the setup requirements and ensure compatibility with existing Microsoft services
3. Confirm that your Organization meets the licensing requirements for Microsoft Copilot

The setup wizard displays three key preparation steps:

• First, verify that you're fully prepared for Microsoft Copilot
• Then, assign Microsoft Copilot Licenses to your users in the guide
• Finally, send an email to your users announcing Microsoft Copilot and its features

Assign Licenses to users or groups

Choose the appropriate License assignment method based on your Organization's structure and requirements.

1. Choose the Subscription type for Microsoft Copilot
   
   
2. Select either to assign Licenses to individual Platform Users or groups:
   • Assign group license: Assigns Licenses to all members of selected groups
   • Assign user license: Assigns Licenses to specific individual Platform Users
3. Search for and select the specific Platform User or group to which you want to assign Microsoft Copilot Licenses

4. Press the Assign button to complete the assignment process
   

NOTE! The system will display a confirmation message: "You've successfully added Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 Licenses to your account. License assignment was successful."

Complete setup and notify users

After successful License assignment, configure user notifications to ensure smooth adoption of Microsoft Copilot features.

Notify Platform Users or groups (Optional)

While not mandatory, it's a good practice to notify the assigned Platform Users or groups about the activation of Microsoft Copilot. This helps users prepare for the new features and functionalities.

1. Enable the option "Allow Microsoft to email your Organization"
2. Configure email notification settings:
   • Let people in my Organization receive emails from Microsoft about how to use Microsoft 365 Products
   • Send the following email announcement to the selected recipients
3. Select users and groups to send email notifications
4. Review the email preview before sending

Finalize setup

The setup wizard will display a completion screen indicating that you've successfully configured Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.

The system provides additional resources for Organizations interested in Microsoft Copilot, including answers to questions, technical support, ideas from other Organizations, and updates on new features.

Limitations

License assignments may take up to 24 hours to propagate across all Microsoft 365 services within your Organization.
