How to create and manage Add-on Offers? New UI

Appxite

Introduction

This article explains how to create and manage Add-on Offers in Product Management Hub. An Add-on Offer is a supplementary Offer that requires at least one prerequisite Parent Offer to function. Customers can only purchase an Add-on Subscription alongside an active Subscription to its Parent Offer, ensuring proper Product dependencies in the catalogue.

Configuring an Offer as an Add-on Subscription happens in the Business Rules tab of the Offer wizard, in the Addon & Prerequisites section. The rest of the Offer is created and managed exactly like any other Offer — see How to create a new Offer for the full creation flow.

In this article:

NOTE! An Add-on Subscription is created the same way as a standard Offer — the only difference is the Addon & Prerequisites configuration on the Business Rules tab. The full Offer creation workflow is described in How to create a new Offer.

Accessing the Addon & Prerequisites section

The Addon & Prerequisites section is part of the Business Rules tab in the Offer Details step of the Offer wizard. To reach it:

  1. Open the Offer for creation (New Offer) or editing (Edit Offer). See How to create a new Offer or How to edit an Offer.
  2. On the Offer Details step, open the Business Rules tab.
  3. Scroll to the Addon & Prerequisites section at the bottom of the tab.

Enabling the Add-on flag

To designate an Offer as an Add-on Subscription, turn on the This is an addon toggle in the Addon & Prerequisites section. A helper line under the toggle reminds you that Addon offers require a prerequisite offer.

When the toggle is enabled, the section expands and shows the Parent Offer field for selecting the prerequisite.

Adding a Parent Offer

The Parent Offer field is required (marked with *) once the This is an addon toggle is enabled. At least one Parent Offer must be selected.

To add a Parent Offer:

  1. Select the Select parent offer dropdown.
  2. Start typing the name of the Offer, Product, or Organization to filter the list, or scroll to find the desired option.
  3. Select the desired Offer from the dropdown.

Each entry in the dropdown is displayed as a three-part path:

[Organization] / [Product] / [Offer Name]

For example: LeOrganizat'ione / ProductOLOLOLO / TestPublish1. This format helps distinguish between Offers with similar names belonging to different Products or Organizations.

NOTE! The dropdown lists only Published Offers available for the current Vendor. An Offer must be published before it can be referenced as a Parent Offer.

Adding multiple Parent Offers

An Add-on Subscription can be associated with more than one Parent Offer. This is useful when the same supplementary Offer should be available to Customers who own different qualifying Subscriptions.

To add another Parent Offer:

  1. Select + Add Another Parent Offer below the existing Parent Offer field.

  2. A new Parent Offer field appears. Select the desired Offer from the dropdown
  3. Repeat for each additional Parent Offer.
NOTE! Each Parent Offer row is independent. Empty rows trigger the validation message "Please complete this required field" and prevent the Offer from being saved as a Draft with valid data. Either complete the row or remove it before saving.

Removing or changing Parent Offers

Each Parent Offer entry has a trash bin icon on the right side of the row. To remove a Parent Offer, select the trash bin icon next to it.

To change a Parent Offer, open the dropdown on its row and select a different Offer; no separate "edit" action is needed.

Warning! Removing all Parent Offer entries while the This is an addon toggle is still enabled leaves the Offer in an invalid state — at least one Parent Offer is required. Either add another Parent Offer or disable the This is an addon toggle to convert the Offer back to a standard Offer.

Saving the Add-on Subscription

Once the This is an addon toggle is enabled and at least one Parent Offer is selected, the Add-on Subscription configuration is complete. Continue through the rest of the Offer wizard:

  1. Save the current step as a Draft with Save as Draft, or proceed to the next step.
  2. Configure Pricing, Billing Rules, and Provisioning as for any other Offer.
  3. In the Review & Publish step, resolve any validation issues and publish.

Once published, the Offer appears in the catalogue as an Add-on Subscription. Customers can only purchase it alongside an existing Subscription to one of the configured Parent Offers.

NOTE! CPQ Offers can also be configured as Add-on Subscriptions in Product Management Hub. The configuration steps are the same as described above.

Editing an existing Add-on Subscription

The Addon & Prerequisites section remains editable after the Offer is published. To change the configuration:

  1. From the Offers grid, select the Edit Offer (pencil) icon for the Add-on Subscription.
  2. Open the Business Rules tab and scroll to the Addon & Prerequisites section.
  3. Make changes — add or remove Parent Offers, or switch between standard and Add-on Subscription by toggling This is an addon.
  4. Save the changes and re-publish from the Review & Publish step.
NOTE! Changing the Add-on configuration on a Published Offer affects new purchases only. Existing Subscriptions continue under their original configuration. For the full list of fields that can and cannot be edited after publishing, see How to edit an Offer.

Limitations

  • At least one Parent Offer is required when This is an addon is enabled.
  • Only Published Offers for the current Vendor are available as Parent Offers.
  • An Add-on Subscription cannot be purchased on its own — Customers must have or be purchasing a Subscription to one of the configured Parent Offers.
  • Empty Parent Offer rows trigger validation and must be either completed or removed before the Offer can pass validation in Review & Publish.

Summary

Creating an Add-on Offer follows the same flow as any other Offer, with one extra step: in the Business Rules tab, enable the This is an addon toggle in the Addon & Prerequisites section and select at least one Parent Offer. Multiple Parent Offers can be added with + Add Another Parent Offer and removed using the trash bin icon. The Parent Offer dropdown lists all Published Offers for the current Vendor in an Organization / Product / Offer Name format. Once published, the Add-on Offer can only be purchased alongside an active Subscription to one of its Parent Offers. CPQ Offers can also be configured as Add-on Offers. The Addon & Prerequisites configuration remains editable after publishing.
