Who can cancel orders
Customers can cancel orders and Subscription configurations for specific orders from the Customer View when logged in on behalf of a Customer Organization. Cancellation is only available if the vendor supports this feature.
How to cancel an order
Customers can see the exact latest time when they can cancel their order so that they don't miss the deadline.
When your order can be canceled, you see the cancellation deadline: simply hover over the "Cancel button" in the list of orders.
While hovering over the cancel order button, you can see the tooltip "Cancel this order till {date}{time}{time_zone}."
After the deadline, the cancel button is visible but disabled and has the same hover message. Previously, it used to be hidden.
To cancel an order:
- Navigate to the ORDERS tab in the main menu.
- Locate the order you want to cancel in the orders list.
- Click the X icon in the ACTIONS column for that order.
- Review the cancellation confirmation message that appears.
- Click Confirm to complete the cancellation.
The system will display a message confirming that the vendor supports order cancellation at no charge and warning that changes to your Subscription will be reverted.
Cancellation rules for Microsoft New Commerce Experience
For Microsoft New Commerce Experience products, specific cancellation rules apply:
Time limit: Cancellation is allowed only within the first 7 days after the order is placed.
Availability: The X cancellation button is available only for new Microsoft New Commerce Experience Subscription orders. It is not available for updates to existing Microsoft New Commerce Experience Subscriptions.
The time period for cancellation is set by the vendor. While the order and Subscription will be cancelled, whether you are charged depends on the vendor's policy. For Microsoft products, you can review the cancellation policy on the Microsoft website.
What happens when you cancel an order
When you cancel an order, the following occurs:
New cancellation order created: The system automatically creates a new cancellation order to process the cancellation.
Order Status updated: The Order Status of the cancelled order item changes to Canceled.
Subscription reverted: Changes to your Subscription are reverted back to the previous state.
Limitations
Billings from Subscriptions and Subscription changes that are cancelled through order cancellation are not reflected in reports and Invoices. This means cancelled transactions will not appear in your billing documentation.
