Business benefits and use cases
Same-day pricing configuration gives Sellers the flexibility to respond immediately to business needs. This capability is particularly valuable in several scenarios:
Competitive response: When a competitor announces a promotion or price change, you can adjust your pricing immediately to remain competitive without waiting until the next day.
Time-sensitive deals: For opportunities with same-day decision deadlines, you can provide updated pricing instantly to close deals before they expire.
Market volatility management: In rapidly changing markets with fluctuating costs or exchange rates, you can update prices the same day to protect margins or capture opportunities.
Urgent customer requests: When key customers need immediate pricing adjustments for urgent purchases, you can accommodate their needs without delays.
Promotional campaigns: Launch flash sales or limited-time promotions that start immediately, allowing you to capitalize on marketing moments and seasonal opportunities.
Error correction: Quickly fix pricing mistakes or misconfigurations that could impact Orders already in progress, minimizing potential revenue loss.
While this capability offers significant business advantages, it should be used thoughtfully since same-day changes may affect Orders completed earlier today or currently in progress. The system includes safeguards through confirmation dialogs and warning messages to ensure users understand the implications before applying immediate price changes.
Enable same-day pricing authorization
To allow users to create pricing configurations that take effect immediately, you must first enable the same-day authorization setting. See this article learn more about Platform Settings section.
Navigate to Settings → Prices.
The Prices settings page displays the following sections in order:
- Authorization Settings section
- Last Update section
- Action buttons (Save Configuration, Cancel)
In the Authorization Settings section, you will see an unchecked checkbox by default with the following descriptive text:
Check the checkbox to enable same-day pricing authorization, then click the Save Configuration button.
A confirmation dialog appears with the title "Confirm Same-Day Authorization" and the following content:
Select Confirm & Save to enable the feature, or Cancel to discard the change.
Once enabled, the Last Update section displays:
- Section Title: "Last Update"
- Updated on: Date in the format configured in your platform settings
- Updated by: Full name of the user who made the last update
Create same-day customer prices
Once same-day pricing authorization is enabled, users can create Customer Price configurations with an Effective Date set to today.
1. Navigate to Catalog → Customer Prices
2. Select the Customer for whom you want to configure pricing.
3. When creating or editing a Markup configuration, you can now select today's date as the Start Date.
The system displays a warning message based on the authorization setting and the Customer's existing Orders or Subscriptions:
- When authorization is enabled:
This warning appears regardless of whether the customer has existing Orders or Subscriptions.
- When authorization is disabled:
If the Customer has no existing Subscriptions or Orders, the system displays:
If the Customer has existing Subscriptions or Orders, you cannot select today's date as the start date. The earliest available date is tomorrow.
Understanding the authorization behavior
The same-day pricing authorization setting controls when pricing configurations can take effect.
The following table summarizes the behavior:
| Authorization Setting | Customer Has Orders/Subscriptions | Earliest Allowed Start Date |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled (True) | Yes or No | Today |
| Disabled (False) | No | Today |
| Disabled (False) | Yes | Tomorrow |
Customer Prices Imports
When importing Customer Prices via file upload, the same rules apply. If same-day authorization is disabled and you attempt to import prices with today's start date for customers with existing Orders or Subscriptions, the system displays an error for those customers and removes their prices from the import file. Prices for customers without existing Orders or Subscriptions are imported successfully with the correct split logic applied.

When enabled, authorized users can create Customer Price configurations that take effect the same day. The system includes appropriate safeguards through confirmation dialogs and warning messages to ensure users understand the potential impact on existing Orders and Subscriptions. When disabled, the feature restricts same-day pricing changes for customers with existing Orders or Subscriptions, helping prevent unintended consequences while still allowing immediate pricing for new customers.
