How to apply Adobe promotion codes
Introduction
This article guides you through applying Adobe promotion codes when purchasing new subscriptions and editing existing ones. The promotion code feature allows you to receive discounts on Adobe products by entering valid promotional codes during the ordering process. Currently, this feature is available for new orders and scheduled orders, and displays promotional pricing automatically when a valid code is applied.

View available promotions
To see which promotion codes are available for your selected product:
- Navigate to the Offer page when placing a new order for Adobe product.
- Select your desired License Quantity.
- Click the View available promotions button located below the Promotion code field.
A dialog box will appear showing all available promotion codes for the selected admin account.
Apply a promotion code
To apply a promotion code to your order:
- In the View available promotions dialog, locate the promotion code you want to use.
- Manually copy the promotion code from the list.
- Paste the code into the Promotion code field in the order form.
- The system will automatically validate the code with Adobe.
- If the code is valid, the promotional price will be displayed in the Price section showing both the original and discounted amounts.
Verify promotional pricing
After entering a valid promotion code:
- The Price section will display the Grand Total for the selected billing period.
- The original price will appear with a strikethrough.
- The new promotional price will be shown next to the original price.
- Example:
3187.47SEK 3152.47
If you enter an invalid promotion code, an error message will appear in red text below the Promotion code field stating: "Promotion code '[code]' is not valid."
Promotion visibility on Subscription page
The applied promotion code will be displayed on the subscription details page and in cancellation policies for future reference.
Open and Closed promotion codes
There are two types of Adobe promotion codes that you can apply in the Platform:
-
Open promotion codes — discounts returned through the Flexible Discounts API. They are primarily used to acquire new Customers who meet specific eligibility criteria. These codes appear in the View available promotions dialog.
Example: 20% off Creative Cloud Pro Plus for Black Friday. -
Closed promotion codes — discounts shared with Partners through Customer Account Manager (CAM) or Sales Agents. They are intended to retain Customers who are at risk of attrition, or to target Customers who are eligible for an upgrade. These codes are applied to Orders in the same way as Open promotion codes, but they are not returned by the Flexible Discounts API and therefore do not appear in the View available promotions dialog.
Example: 15% off for Customers with Acrobat Pro licenses who renew to Acrobat Studio.
Both Open and Closed promotion codes can use the same flexible discount types (percentage off, fixed amount off, or fixed price).
Apply a Closed promotion code
Because Closed promotion codes are not published through the Flexible Discounts API, the Customer must obtain the code from the Partner directly (e.g., via email or account manager communication) and enter it manually into the Promotion code field.
To apply a Closed promotion code:
- Navigate to the Offer page when placing a new Order for the Adobe Product.
- Select your desired License Quantity.
-
Enter the Closed promotion code provided by your Partner into the Promotion code field.
- The system will automatically validate the code with Adobe.
-
Once the code is validated, the promotional price is applied to the Offer and displayed in the Price section, showing both the original and discounted amounts for each billing period.
Closed promotion code visibility on Subscription page
Once the Order is placed, the discounted price is also visible on the Subscription page. The price table displays the regular price with a strikethrough, the new discounted price, and a label indicating the applied discount (for example, "-15% from regular price EUR 466.36").
Promotion codes for scheduled renewal orders
In addition to new purchase Orders, promotion codes can also be applied to a Subscription's upcoming renewal through a scheduled order. This lets a Customer with Auto-Renewal enabled lock in a promotion code — together with a Quantity change if needed — ahead of the actual renewal date.
How it works
- A promotion code can be submitted for the renewal on its own, or together with a Quantity change for the same scheduled order.
- If both a promotion code and a Quantity change are submitted together, the system first adds the promotion code and the renewal Quantity to the Subscription, then checks with Adobe whether the promotion code is valid for the renewal.
- If the promotion code check fails, the promotion code is removed while the Quantity change is kept, and the Order is marked as "Order was partially processed. Applied promotion code is invalid."
- If the check succeeds, the Order completes with both the new Quantity and the promotion code applied to the renewal.
- Both regular promotion codes and 3-year commitment (Triennial) promotion codes can be submitted for a renewal.
- If you later submit another scheduled order and leave the Promotion code field empty, the promotion code already saved on the Subscription is kept as is.
- If you later submit another scheduled order with a different promotion code, the new code replaces the one currently saved on the Subscription.
Promotion code validation for renewals
Unlike new Orders, Adobe does not offer a dedicated preview check to validate a promotion code at the moment it is entered for a renewal. Instead, when a promotion code is entered for a scheduled renewal order, the Platform performs a general lookup against Adobe to confirm the code exists:
- If the promotion code is found, it is treated as valid and the discount is shown in the Platform.
- If the promotion code is not found, a validation error is shown stating "Invalid Discount code."
Apply a promotion code to a scheduled renewal order
To apply a promotion code to an upcoming renewal:
-
Go to the Subscription details page. Confirm Auto-Renewal is turned on.
-
Click Edit.
-
Under When do you want to apply your changes?, select On Renewal and click Continue.
-
Adjust the License Quantity if needed, and enter your promotion code into the Promotion code field.
-
Click Place order.
The scheduled Order will be visible on the Order list page.
On the Subscription details page, the predicted renewal Level, renewal Quantity, and the discount code that will be applied on renewal are shown under the scheduled change. The discount Level is updated to match the applied promotion code.
Summary
The Adobe promotion code feature enables you to apply discounts to new and scheduled renewal subscription orders by manually entering valid promotional codes. The system validates codes with Adobe and displays the discounted pricing automatically. The latest applied promotion code will be visible on your subscription details and cancellation policies.
