Customer Prices: How to create markups with overlapping future dates?
Introduction
This article explains how to create new Markups for future date periods that overlap with existing Customer Price configurations. The Platform allows Sellers to schedule future pricing changes that will automatically override existing Markups when they become effective.

Creating overlapping markup periods
The Platform enables Sellers to add new Markups for future dates, even when Customer Prices have already been configured for those periods. This functionality allows you to plan pricing changes in advance without disrupting current pricing.
When you create a new Markup that overlaps with an existing future pricing period, the Platform provides a clear workflow to manage the conflict.
Confirming markup overwrite
When attempting to save a Customer Price with dates that conflict with existing future pricing:
Conflict detection: The Platform displays a notification: "We found 1 conflicting price settings" (or the appropriate number of conflicts).
Conflict details: A popup window shows the following information about conflicting Customer Prices:
- Conflicting Item: The Vendor, Offer, or Generic price type affected
- Period: The date range of the existing pricing (for example, "Oct 8, 2019 — Oct 10, 2020")
- Markup: The existing Markup percentage
- Price Source: Whether the existing price uses Cost Price or Retail Price
- AM Limit: The Account Manager limit setting
- Admin Limit: The Admin limit setting
A "View" link allows you to review the conflicting Customer Price details.
Overwrite confirmation: The Platform prompts: "The following existing price settings conflict with yours. Overwriting will remove selected offer(s) from conflicting groups. Overwrite?"
You can then:
- Select "Yes" to proceed with overwriting the existing Customer Price
- Select "Cancel" to abort the operation and keep the existing pricing
Understanding effective dates
When new markups take effect: The new Markup will become active and display on the Platform UI only on or after the starting date (From date) of the new Markup period. Before this date, the previous Customer Price remains in effect.
Example scenario: If you create a new Markup with an effective period from April 24, 2021 to May 25, 2021:
- On April 23, 2021: The new Markup configuration will not yet appear in the list of available prices on the Customer Prices page
- On April 24, 2021 and after: The new Markup becomes active and displays to Customers
Viewing future markups
Before the effective date: Future Markups that have not yet become active can only be viewed in specific locations:
Edit Price page: Navigate to the Edit Price page for the relevant Vendor, Offer, or Generic price type. In the "From / Till" dropdown menu, you will see all configured date periods, including future ones that have not yet taken effect. Select the future date period to view or edit its configuration.
Customer Prices list: Once the From date arrives, the new Markup period will appear in the main Customer Prices list and become visible throughout the Platform.
Summary
The Platform allows Sellers to create Markups for future dates that overlap with existing Customer Price configurations. When conflicts are detected, the system displays detailed information about the conflicting settings and requires explicit confirmation before overwriting. New Markups become effective only on their scheduled From date and can be reviewed in the Edit Price page's date dropdown before they take effect. This functionality enables Sellers to plan and schedule pricing changes in advance while maintaining full visibility and control over price transitions.
