How to read the Price Configuration section in Offer and Subscription page
Introduction
This article explains the Price Configuration section on the Platform. The Price Configuration is the pricing control for an Offer or a Subscription. It lays out the pricing pipeline for each Partner tier — Cost, Price Adjustment, and a target price — and holds the editable fields that determine the final Customer Price.
The Price Configuration section works together with the Price table, which sits directly below it. The Price table is a read-only report that breaks the resulting prices down per tier into price sources, adjustments, margins, and unit economics. The card is where you change a price; the table is where you examine it in full. Both are generated from the same calculation, so their values always agree.
What the card adds is visibility over the pipeline itself: which currency each tier works in, which level a Markup is inherited from and on which Price Source it is based, how a Markup splits between catalog and subscription configuration, where an FX conversion happens, and which fields you are allowed to edit. Read it when you want to understand or change how a price is assembled; expand the Price table when you want the full per-tier breakdown of the result.
This article is intended for Distributor and Seller users who configure or review pricing on an Offer or a Subscription.

Where to find the Price Configuration card
The Price Configuration card is the first card in the Price section on two pages:
- Offer Buy page — when you purchase a new Subscription. The page ends with Cancel and Add to cart buttons.
- Subscription details page — when you open or edit an existing Subscription.
Below the Price Configuration card sits the Price table card, which is collapsed by default. Select the chevron on the right of the Price table header to expand it. The Price table restates the same prices as a per-tier table with margin and unit economics columns — see "How to read the Price table".
Which tiers you see depends on the Platform model and on your role:
- On a two-tier (Indirect Model) Platform, the card shows a DISTRIBUTOR section followed by a SELLER section. The DISTRIBUTOR section is visible to Distributor Admin roles or higher.
-
On a one-tier (Direct Model) Platform, there is no DISTRIBUTOR section. The card starts with the SELLER section.
Price section header
The Price section header runs across the top of the card and holds three elements, from left to right:
- Billing Cycle badge — the billing frequency, for example EVERY 1 MONTH or EVERY 12 MONTHS. The badge is read-only.
- GRAND TOTAL — the Customer Price for one full Billing Cycle, in the currency the Customer pays in. This is the largest value in the header.
- PRO-RATED — shown only when the Subscription starts or changes mid-cycle. The label carries the day ratio, for example PRO-RATED (14D / 31D), and the amount below it is the Customer Price for the remaining days only.
The GRAND TOTAL always equals the value in the CUSTOMER PRICE panel at the bottom of the Price Configuration card, and it matches the Seller row's You Sell For column in the Price table.
Simple and Detailed views
A Simple / Detailed toggle sits in the top-right corner of the Price Configuration card header. Simple is the default. Switching views changes nothing in the pricing — only how much of the calculation is shown.
Simple shows one row of three fields per tier — COST, PRICE ADJUSTMENT, and the target price — plus the renewal toggle and the CUSTOMER PRICE panel. A link icon between PRICE ADJUSTMENT and the target price marks the two as connected. Hovering the icon shows the tooltip These fields are linked — editing Price Adjustment recalculates Target Price, and editing Target Price back-calculates Price Adjustment.
Detailed adds the following to the same layout:
- A READ-ONLY / EDITABLE / COMPUTED OUTPUT legend directly under the card title.
- Help icons next to the field labels, with tooltips.
- Unit sub-lines beneath the amounts, showing price per unit multiplied by Quantity — for example 2.64 EUR / unit × 1 unit(s) = 2.64 EUR.
- FX sub-lines beneath COST in the SELLER section and beneath the CUSTOMER PRICE, where the currencies differ — for example 2.95 EUR × FX Rate 5.0000 = 14.76 MYR.
- The PRICE ADJUSTMENT BREAKDOWN panel in the SELLER section.
- A formula chip beneath SELLER TARGET PRICE in the DISTRIBUTOR section, naming the base the Markup was applied to.
- The margin summary row at the foot of the card.
- The Pro-Rated Price panel, when the Subscription is prorated.
Field types and icons
In Detailed view, a legend under the card title names the three kinds of field used throughout the card. The same icons appear on the individual field labels in both views.
| Field type | Icon on the label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Read-only | Lock | The value comes from the catalog, the Vendor, or a tier above you. You cannot change it here. |
| Editable | Pencil | You can type a new value. Editable inputs are outlined, and their text is shown in blue. |
| Computed output | Square | The value is calculated by the Platform from the fields above it. The CUSTOMER PRICE panel is the main computed output. |
Which fields carry a pencil depends on the page and on your role — see Editing prices. A field that is editable for you on the Subscription details page may still show a lock on the Offer Buy page.
Three further visual cues are used in the card:
- A link icon between PRICE ADJUSTMENT and the target price shows that the two fields are bound together. Change one and the other is recalculated.
- A yellow (amber) tint on a field, together with an amber PROMOTION badge, marks a value reduced by a Promotion — see Promotions.
- A level badge on the PRICE ADJUSTMENT label row shows which level a Markup comes from and which Price Source it uses — see Distributor price adjustment level and Price Source.
NOTE! On the Subscription details page, fields are frozen until you enter edit mode. Once you do, the fields you are allowed to change are outlined and shown in blue.
Distributor section
The DISTRIBUTOR section describes what the Distributor pays the Vendor and what the Distributor charges the Seller. It appears only on two-tier (Indirect Model) Platforms, and only for Distributor Admin roles or higher.
A currency badge with a lock icon sits at the right of the section heading, for example CURRENCY EUR. Every amount in this section is in that currency — the parent contract currency between the Vendor and the Distributor — regardless of the currency the Distributor invoices the Seller in.
The section holds three fields:
- COST — what the Distributor pays the Vendor. Always read-only, on a slate background. In Detailed view, a unit sub-line shows the per-unit price multiplied by Quantity, for example 2.64 EUR / unit × 1 unit(s) = 2.64 EUR. This is the Distributor row's You Buy For value in the Price table.
- PRICE ADJUSTMENT — the Distributor's Markup percentage. Editable on both the Offer Buy page and the Subscription details page, for users with the Price Tier Admin role. A badge on the label row shows which level the Markup comes from and which Price Source it uses — see Distributor price adjustment level and Price Source. In the Price table, this value appears under Catalog Adj. (%) while it is inherited from the catalog, and under Subscription Adj. (%) once it has been overridden on the Subscription.
- SELLER TARGET PRICE — what the Distributor charges the Seller, in the Distributor's own currency. Editable on both pages for users with the Price Tier Admin role, and bound to PRICE ADJUSTMENT by the link icon. This is the Distributor row's You Sell For value in the Price table.
NOTE! The Distributor Markup can be adjusted on both the Offer Buy page and the Subscription details page. Doing so creates a subscription-level override that displaces the catalog configuration for that Subscription — see Distributor price adjustment level and Price Source.
Distributor price adjustment level and Price Source
A Distributor Markup does not have to come from the catalog. It can be set for one Subscription directly in the Price Configuration card, on either the Offer Buy page or the Subscription details page. The badge on the PRICE ADJUSTMENT label row tells you which is in force.
NOTE! Only users with the Price Tier Admin role can configure the Distributor PRICE ADJUSTMENT or update the SELLER TARGET PRICE. For all other roles these fields are read-only.
Price adjustment levels
A Distributor Markup is configured in Partner Prices at one of three catalog levels, or set directly on the Subscription. More specific levels take precedence. Each level has its own badge colour:
| Level | Badge colour | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Generic | Slate | Partner Prices — applies to all Offers |
| Vendor | Purple | Partner Prices — applies to one Vendor |
| Offer | Blue | Partner Prices — applies to one Offer |
| Subscription | Emerald | Set here, on this one Subscription |
The badge shows the level and the Price Source together, separated by a middle dot — for example VENDOR · CP (inherited from Vendor level, based on Cost Price) or SUBSCRIPTION · RP (set on this Subscription, based on Retail Price). While an edit is in progress and not yet confirmed, the badge reads OVERRIDE.
Price Adjustment Settings popover
Select the pencil icon beside the badge to open the PRICE ADJUSTMENT SETTINGS popover. It contains:
- A read-only level indicator, for example Vendor or Subscription.
- The Price Tier name.
- A Price Source two-button toggle: Cost Price or Retail Price.
- A confirmation note explaining the current state.
- A Reset to Catalog Level link.
- A Done button.
While the Markup is still inherited, the popover shows an amber note: Inherited from Vendor level. Select a price source to create a Subscription-level override. Once the override exists, the note turns emerald: Subscription-level override — takes precedence over catalog settings.
The popover closes when you select Done, click outside it, or press Escape. It does not close when you use the Price Source toggle inside it.
How a Markup becomes Subscription level
An inherited Markup is promoted to Subscription level in either of two ways:
- Editing the value. Typing a new percentage into PRICE ADJUSTMENT, or a new amount into SELLER TARGET PRICE, promotes the level automatically.
- Selecting a Price Source. Choosing Cost Price or Retail Price in the popover promotes the level and keeps your selection.
Opening and closing the popover without selecting a Price Source does not promote the level, so you can inspect the current configuration without changing it.
When you edit the value, Confirm (an emerald check) and Cancel (a slate ×) buttons appear inside the right side of the input, replacing the % or currency suffix. Confirm applies the value; Cancel reverts to the value held when you began editing.
WARNING! Confirming a Distributor subscription-level Markup opens a dialog reading: Subscription level markup overwrites seller segment markup. Seller segment markup cannot be used in future. Select Confirm to proceed or Cancel to keep the inherited configuration. This is not reversible by re-entering the old percentage — use Reset to Catalog Level instead.
NOTE! While the badge reads OVERRIDE, the edit has not been saved. The Price table below continues to show the last saved configuration — the previous percentage, the previous Price Source, and the previous column placement — until you select Confirm. Do not read the Price table as a preview of an unconfirmed edit.
What Price Source changes
The Price Source decides which amount the Markup is applied to. It is not a cosmetic setting: the same percentage produces a completely different SELLER TARGET PRICE depending on which base is selected.
- Cost Price (CP) — the Markup is applied to the Distributor's COST, the price paid to the Vendor.
- Retail Price (RP) — the Markup is applied to the Vendor Retail Price, the Vendor's published price. The Distributor's own COST is not part of the calculation at all.
This is why no arrow connects COST to PRICE ADJUSTMENT in the card: the basis is configurable, so the sequence is not fixed. In Detailed view the formula chip under SELLER TARGET PRICE names the base actually used, in the form [Cost or Vendor Retail Price] × (1 + [Price Adjustment]%) = [Seller Target Price].
WARNING! Changing the Price Source moves the SELLER TARGET PRICE without the percentage changing at all. Where the Vendor Retail Price is much higher than the Distributor's COST, switching from Cost Price to Retail Price can multiply the price charged to the Seller. Always check the resulting SELLER TARGET PRICE and margin after changing the source.
Worked example: the same Markup on two different sources
A Distributor works in EUR and invoices the Seller in MYR, at 1 EUR = 5.00 MYR. The same Subscription in both cases:
- DISTRIBUTOR COST: 2.00 EUR, which is 10.00 MYR
- Vendor Retail Price: 20.00 MYR
- PRICE ADJUSTMENT: −10% in both cases
| Cost Price (CP) | Retail Price (RP) | |
|---|---|---|
| Base used | Distributor Cost, 10.00 MYR | Vendor Retail Price, 20.00 MYR |
| Calculation | 10.00 × (1 − 10%) | 20.00 × (1 − 10%) |
| Seller Target Price | 9.00 MYR | 18.00 MYR |
| Distributor Margin (%) | −11.11 — selling below cost | 44.44 |
| Distributor Margin (ABS) | EUR −0.20 | EUR 1.60 |
The percentage is identical. Only the base changed, and the price charged to the Seller doubled. With Cost Price the negative adjustment is a discount off cost and produces a loss; with Retail Price the same −10% is a discount off the published retail price and still leaves a healthy margin.
What this does to the Seller
The Distributor's Price Source changes the Seller's COST, and therefore the Seller's margin — but not necessarily the price the Customer pays.
Continuing the example above, the Seller is on Retail Price with a catalog Markup of 15.00% and a subscription Markup of 2.6087%, giving a Total Adj. of 18.00%. The Vendor Retail Price at the Seller tier is 14.00 USD, and the Customer pays in PLN:
| Seller row | Distributor on Cost Price | Distributor on Retail Price |
|---|---|---|
| You Buy For | MYR 9.00 | MYR 18.00 |
| You Sell For | PLN 68.12 | PLN 68.12 |
| Margin (%) | 61.87 | 23.73 |
The Customer pays PLN 68.12 either way. Because the Seller is on Retail Price, its selling price is built from the Vendor Retail Price (14.00 USD × 4.1235 × 1.18 = 68.12 PLN) and is unaffected by what the Distributor charged. What moves is the Seller's margin — from 23.73% to 61.87% — because its cost halved.
NOTE! A Distributor Price Source change is invisible in the Customer-facing price whenever the Seller is also on Retail Price. It lands entirely in the Seller's margin. If the Seller is on Cost Price, the change flows straight through to the Customer Price instead.
Both tiers show their own source in the Price Source column of the Price table, so read that column for both rows before concluding where a change will land. See "How to read the Price table".
Cost Price Calculation:
Retail Price Calculation:
How a saved override appears in the Price table
Once the override is saved and the badge reads SUBSCRIPTION · CP, the Distributor row of the Price table changes shape: the Markup moves out of Catalog Adj. (%) and into Subscription Adj. (%), and both Catalog Adj. (%) and Catalog Adj. on Renew (%) grey out, because the catalog configuration no longer takes part in the calculation.
Taking the same Subscription with a saved Cost Price override of +10%:
| Price table column | Distributor row | Seller row |
|---|---|---|
| Price Source | Cost Price | Retail Price |
| Catalog Adj. (%) | Greyed out | 15 |
| Subscription Adj. (%) | 10 | 2.6087 |
| Catalog Adj. on Renew (%) | Greyed out | 15 |
| Total Adj. (%) | 10.00 | 18.00 |
| Margin (%) / (ABS) | 9.09 / EUR 0.20 | 53.39 / MYR 12.60 |
| You Buy For | EUR 2.00 | MYR 11.00 |
| You Sell For | MYR 11.00 | PLN 68.12 |
| Vendor Retail Price | MYR 20.00 | USD 14.00 |
Reading the chain across both rows:
- Distributor, on Cost Price: 2.00 EUR × (1 + 10%) = 2.20 EUR, which at 1 EUR = 5.00 MYR is the You Sell For of 11.00 MYR.
- Seller: You Buy For 11.00 MYR, matching the Distributor's You Sell For.
- Seller, on Retail Price: the Vendor Retail Price of 14.00 USD is 20.00 MYR, and 20.00 × (1 + 18%) = 23.60 MYR — the CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE.
- Converted for the Customer: 23.60 MYR = 68.12 PLN, the Seller's You Sell For and the GRAND TOTAL.
NOTE! The Seller's You Sell For is 68.12 PLN whether the Distributor charges 9.00, 11.00 or 18.00 MYR. Because the Seller is on Retail Price, its selling price is anchored to the Vendor Retail Price, and every change the Distributor makes lands in the Seller's margin rather than in the Customer Price.
Editing the Seller Target Price directly
Instead of entering a percentage, you can type the price the Seller should pay into SELLER TARGET PRICE. The Platform back-calculates the Markup as:
Price Adjustment = (Seller Target Price / Distributor Cost − 1) × 100
The result is stored to six decimal places and displayed to two, so the percentage shown may be a rounded version of the value actually held.
A SELLER TARGET PRICE below the Distributor COST is permitted. The Platform shows the inline message Target price is below cost. and a negative percentage shows This discount may result selling at a loss. Neither blocks the save.
Where the override is stored
A Distributor Markup set here is written to Partner Prices as a Markup with the Price Level Subscription. In the Partner Prices section it can be deleted but not edited. To change the value, return to the Subscription details page and edit it in the Price Configuration card.
Examples: Distributor markup in practice
The three worked examples below show the effect of a Distributor Markup at purchase, after a change mid-term, and across a three-currency chain.
Example 1 — Adjusting the Markup during purchase
A Distributor has an Offer level Markup of 20% on an Office 365 Offer, based on Cost Price. The Offer has an annual commitment with monthly billing.
- Distributor COST: 10.00 EUR. The badge reads OFFER · CP.
- SELLER TARGET PRICE: 10.00 × 1.20 = 12.00 EUR.
In the shopping cart, the Distributor changes the PRICE ADJUSTMENT to 10% and keeps Cost Price as the source. The badge becomes SUBSCRIPTION · CP:
- SELLER TARGET PRICE: 10.00 × 1.10 = 11.00 EUR.
- The Seller is billed 11.00 EUR every month.
Example 2 — Changing the Markup mid-term
Two months later, the Distributor opens the same Subscription and changes the PRICE ADJUSTMENT from 10% to 1%.
- SELLER TARGET PRICE: 10.00 × 1.01 = 10.10 EUR.
- In month 3 the Seller is invoiced 10.10 EUR instead of 11.00 EUR.
The new price applies from the next billing cycle. The Seller does not have to wait for Renewal to see it.
Example 3 — A three-currency chain
A Distributor holds a contract with the Vendor in USD, sells to a Seller in EUR, and that Seller sells to a Customer in SEK.
In the DISTRIBUTOR section — the whole row is in USD:
- COST: 100.00 USD
- PRICE ADJUSTMENT: 10%
- SELLER TARGET PRICE: 100.00 × 1.10 = 110.00 USD
In the FX block — USD → EUR at a rate of 1.15:
- 110.00 USD ÷ 1.15 = 95.65 EUR
In the SELLER section — the whole row is in EUR:
- COST: 95.65 EUR
- Catalog Markup 5%, Subscription Markup 10%
- Total effective: (1 + 5.00%) × (1 + 10.00%) − 1 = 15.50%
- CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE: 95.65 × 1.05 × 1.10 = 110.48 EUR
In the CUSTOMER PRICE panel — EUR → SEK at a rate of 10:
- 110.48 × 10 = 1 104.76 SEK
NOTE! The Seller's two Markups multiply rather than add: 5% and 10% give 15.50%, not 15%. Displayed values are rounded to two decimal places while the underlying calculation carries more precision, so a figure recomputed by hand from the displayed numbers can differ by a cent.
What this means for Distributors
- A subscription-level override applies to that Subscription only. Other Subscriptions on the same Offer keep the catalog Markup.
- The override permanently displaces the seller segment Markup for this Subscription. Use Reset to Catalog Level rather than retyping the old percentage if you want catalog pricing back.
- Changing the Price Source changes the calculation base, so the same percentage can produce a very different SELLER TARGET PRICE.
- Changes reach the Seller's Invoice from the next billing cycle, so a mid-term reduction has an immediate revenue effect.
- A Markup below zero is allowed and warns but does not block, so the Distributor can sell below Cost by accident.
Seller section
The SELLER section describes what the Seller pays the Distributor and what the Seller charges the Customer. It is visible to Account Manager roles or higher, and it is the only tier section on a one-tier Platform.
A currency badge with a lock icon sits at the right of the section heading, for example CURRENCY MYR. Every amount in this section is in the Seller's incoming price currency — the currency the Seller is invoiced in by the Distributor — regardless of the currency the Customer pays in.
The section holds three fields, plus the renewal toggle:
- COST — what the Seller pays the Distributor. Always read-only. It is the Distributor's SELLER TARGET PRICE converted into the Seller's currency at the Platform FX rate. In Detailed view, an FX sub-line shows the conversion, for example 2.95 EUR × FX Rate 5.0000 = 14.76 MYR, followed by a unit sub-line. On a one-tier Platform there is no conversion and no FX sub-line. This is the Seller row's You Buy For value in the Price table.
- PRICE ADJUSTMENT — the Seller's total effective Markup percentage. Editable on both pages. This field is a calculated total, not a stored value: it combines the catalog and subscription Markups, as the PRICE ADJUSTMENT BREAKDOWN panel below it shows. The label row carries a non-interactive badge showing the catalog price adjustment level and Price Source — for example 5.00% OFFER · CP. Unlike the Distributor badge, this one cannot be selected. This is the Seller row's Total Adj. (%) value in the Price table.
- CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE — what the Seller charges the Customer, expressed in the Seller's currency. Editable on both pages, and bound to PRICE ADJUSTMENT by the link icon. A value below the Seller's COST is permitted, and shows the inline message Target price is below cost.
NOTE! CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE is shown in the Seller's cost currency, not in the Customer's currency. You set the end price in the currency you are invoiced in, and the Platform converts it for the Customer. The converted figure appears in the CUSTOMER PRICE panel below. For Partners working in a single currency, there is no visible difference.
Why Cost and Customer Target Price may not line up
It is tempting to read COST, PRICE ADJUSTMENT, and CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE as a single arithmetic chain. They are only a chain when the Seller's Price Source is Cost Price.
When the Price Source is Retail Price, the Platform calculates the CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE from the Vendor's Suggested Retail Price, not from the Seller's COST. Applying 15% to COST will then not produce the CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE you expect, because the two values are built from different bases. The COST field still tells you what you pay; it simply is not the input to the price you charge.
Check the Price Source column of the Price table to see which base applies to each tier. See "What is Price Source?" and "Seller: Price Hierarchy" for how the source is determined.
Price Adjustment Breakdown
In Detailed view, a PRICE ADJUSTMENT BREAKDOWN panel opens beneath the SELLER section's PRICE ADJUSTMENT field. It separates the Markup stored against the Subscription from the total percentage the Platform displays.
The panel has three rows:
- Catalog — the Markup that comes from the Customer Prices catalog configuration. Read-only here; change it in the catalog. This is the Seller row's Catalog Adj. (%) value in the Price table.
- Subscription — the Markup stored against this Subscription. This is the editable input, marked with a pencil icon. This is the Seller row's Subscription Adj. (%) value in the Price table.
- Total effective — the combined percentage, with the formula printed beneath it.
The Total effective percentage is calculated as:
Total effective = (1 + Catalog Markup) × (1 + Subscription Markup) − 1
The panel prints the calculation with the current values. With a Catalog Markup of 0.00% and a Subscription Markup of 10%, it shows (1 + 0.00%) × (1 + 10.00%) − 1 = 10.00%, and PRICE ADJUSTMENT reads 10.
NOTE! The two Markups are multiplied, not added. When only one of them is set, as above, the Total effective percentage equals it. When both are set, the result is higher than their sum: a Catalog Markup of 10% and a Subscription Markup of 15% give (1 + 0.10) × (1 + 0.15) − 1 = 0.2650, which is 26.50%, not 25%. Note that the values enter the formula as decimals, not as percentages. This is the same formula as the Total Adj. (%) column in the Price table.
Which field to type in
Three fields in the SELLER section are bound together: the Subscription input, PRICE ADJUSTMENT, and CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE. Edit any one and the other two are recalculated. The Catalog row never changes from here.
| You type in | What happens | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription input | PRICE ADJUSTMENT and CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE are recalculated. The value you typed is stored on the Subscription. | You want to set the subscription Markup itself. This is the value stored against the Subscription. |
| PRICE ADJUSTMENT | The Subscription input is recalculated so that the Catalog and Subscription Markups combine to your total, using Subscription = ((1 + Total) / (1 + Catalog)) − 1. CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE follows. | You want a specific total effective percentage over the Cost. |
| CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE | PRICE ADJUSTMENT and the Subscription input are recalculated to match the price you entered. | You are working back from an agreed end price. |
For example, with a Catalog Markup of 5.00% and a target total of 7.00%, the Subscription input is back-calculated as (1 + 7.00%) ÷ (1 + 5.00%) − 1 = 1.9048%. Checking it the other way round: (1 + 5.00%) × (1 + 1.9048%) − 1 = 7.00%.
NOTE! PRICE ADJUSTMENT is a display formula, not a stored value. Only the Subscription input is written to the Subscription record as the subscription Markup. To set a specific subscription Markup, type it into the Subscription input rather than into PRICE ADJUSTMENT.
The Distributor tier has no breakdown panel. A Distributor Markup is either inherited from the catalog or overridden on the Subscription — the two do not stack, so there is nothing to split. The badge on the PRICE ADJUSTMENT label row shows which of the two is in force.
Customer Price
The CUSTOMER PRICE panel is the last section of the card. It is a full-width pale-green panel, which marks it as a computed output: nothing in it can be edited. It shows the price for one full Billing Cycle.
The panel has its own currency badge with a lock icon, for example CURRENCY PLN. The amount is in the currency the Customer pays the Seller in — the Platform currency or the Customer's Preferred Currency.
In Detailed view, two sub-lines appear beneath the panel:
- The FX conversion from the Seller's CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE into the Customer's currency — for example 28.99 MYR × FX 0.7000 × 4.1235 = 83.67 PLN. Where the conversion passes through an intermediate currency, both rates are shown in the same line.
- The unit sub-line — for example 83.67 PLN / unit × 1 unit(s) = 83.67 PLN.
When the Seller and the Customer use the same currency, no FX sub-line is shown and the CUSTOMER PRICE equals the CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE.
When a Promotion is applied, the panel shows the promotional amount on the left and the original amount struck through on the right, for example 76.07 with a struck-through 202.05 PLN.
The CUSTOMER PRICE always equals the GRAND TOTAL in the page header, and it matches the Seller row's You Sell For value in the Price table.
Pro-Rated Price
When a Subscription is activated or changed in the middle of a Billing Cycle, the Platform charges only for the days remaining. The Price Configuration card reports this in two places.
NOTE! The pro-rated Price table view is only available when the Vendor and Product support pro-rated pricing. Pro-rated pricing is not available for every Product — it applies to Adobe Vendor only.
In the page header
A PRO-RATED block appears to the right of the GRAND TOTAL, carrying the day ratio in its label — for example PRO-RATED (14D / 31D) — with the prorated Customer Price beneath it. The GRAND TOTAL beside it continues to show the full-cycle price, so you can read both at once: what the Customer pays for the first period, and what they pay from the next cycle onward.
Pro-Rated Price panel
In Customer Price section, a collapsible Pro-Rated Price panel appears in the card, labelled Mid-cycle estimate. Expand it with the chevron on the right. The panel contains:
- DAYS REMAINING IN CYCLE — a progress bar showing how much of the Billing Cycle is left, with the ratio printed at the right under DAYS IN CYCLE, for example 55 / 365 days.
- A SELLER row — the prorated amount the Seller pays, in the Seller's currency.
- A CUSTOMER row — the prorated amount the Customer pays, in the Customer's currency, on a pale-green background to match the CUSTOMER PRICE panel.
Each tier is charged only for the remaining days, at its own price and in its own currency. The minimum prorated period is one day.
NOTE! The Pro-Rated Price panel is an estimate for the first, incomplete Billing Period. It does not change the Markup percentages or the full-cycle prices shown elsewhere in the card — only the monetary amounts are scaled.
The Price table reports the same prorated figures per tier through its Regular / Prorated toggle, with a day-ratio chip in the Price column group header. Use the Price table when you need the prorated Margin, Unit Price, and Vendor Retail Price as well as the buy and sell amounts. See "How to view prorated Prices in the Price Table".
The prorated view is available only when the Vendor and the Product support prorated pricing. If they do not, no PRO-RATED block appears in the header and the Price table offers only the Regular view.
Multicurrency and FX rates
Each section of the Price Configuration card has its own currency, shown in the locked badge at the right of its heading. This is the single most useful thing to check before reading any amount in the card: the numbers in the DISTRIBUTOR and SELLER sections are not in the same currency unless the badges say so.
The rules match the Price table:
| Section | Currency shown | Why |
|---|---|---|
| DISTRIBUTOR | Parent contract currency, between Vendor and Distributor | What the Distributor transacts in, regardless of how it invoices the Seller |
| SELLER | Seller's incoming price currency, in which the Distributor invoices the Seller | What the Seller pays in, regardless of how it invoices the Customer |
| CUSTOMER PRICE | Currency the Customer pays the Seller in | The final amount on the Customer's Invoice |
Conversions are shown as formula sub-lines in Detailed view:
- Under COST in the SELLER section — the Distributor → Seller conversion, for example 2.95 EUR × FX Rate 5.0000 = 14.76 MYR.
- Under the CUSTOMER PRICE panel — the Seller → Customer conversion, for example 28.99 MYR × FX 0.7000 × 4.1235 = 83.67 PLN. Two rates appear in one line when the conversion passes through an intermediate currency — here MYR to USD, then USD to PLN.
When the two tiers use the same currency, no conversion is shown and the tiers are separated by a plain divider.
The Price table below the card restates the same rates in its Exchange Rates legend bar, for example 1 MYR = 0.70 USD | 1 EUR = 5.00 MYR | 1 USD = 4.1235 PLN, and adds cost-currency sub-lines under each amount. Use the legend bar when you want to check a rate in isolation.
Each Partner controls the rate for their own segment of the chain. The Distributor configures the rate applied between Distributor and Seller; the Seller configures the rate applied between Seller and Customer. A single end-to-end price can therefore pass through two independently managed rates, and you only see and control the one governing your own tier.
Rates are configured in Settings > Currency & Payments > Currency. See "Currency Exchange (FX) Rate Management" for how to set and maintain them, and "Currency & Payments" for the wider currency configuration.
NOTE! When an FX rate is updated, the new rate applies to both the UI and Invoice calculation. An Organization can instead configure a fixed FX rate rule, which locks the rate to the Subscription start date or the renewal date.
Where that rule is in place, the rate shown in the Price Configuration card is the locked rate, not the current configured one. If no exchange rate has been configured for a currency pair, the Platform falls back to the default exchange rate. See “Currency Exchange (FX) Rate Management” for how to configure a fixed FX rate rule.
NOTE! FX rates and the currency chain (Distributor → Seller → Customer) are Platform-level settings and cannot be changed per Subscription. Every currency badge in the card carries a lock icon with the tooltip Currency is configured at the platform level and cannot be changed per subscription.
For Partners working in a single currency across the whole chain, none of this is visible: no FX sub-lines appear, and every amount in the card is in the same currency.
Promotions
When a Promotion reduces a price, the Price Configuration card marks every field the Promotion touches. The Promotion is applied by the Platform; the card shows where it took effect.
A promoted field carries three cues:
- An amber PROMOTION badge above the field, at the right of the field label row.
- The promotional amount in the field, with the original amount struck through beside it — for example 2.64 with a struck-through 7.00 EUR.
- A pale yellow tint filling the field itself, used on the COST field that the Promotion originates from.
The fields that can show a PROMOTION badge are:
- COST and SELLER TARGET PRICE in the DISTRIBUTOR section.
- COST and CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE in the SELLER section.
- The GRAND TOTAL in the page header and the CUSTOMER PRICE panel, which show the struck-through original but no badge.
Hover over a PROMOTION badge to see what the Promotion did to that specific field. The tooltip names the field and the percentage, for example:
- On DISTRIBUTOR COST: Promotion applied. A promotion reduces Distributor Cost by 62.35%.
- On CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE: Promotion applied. A promotion reduces Customer Target Price by 62.35% after Catalog and Subscription Price Adjustments.
The wording matters. A Promotion on the CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE is applied after the Price Adjustments, not before, so your Markup is calculated on the pre-promotion price and the reduction is taken from the result.
NOTE! The Price Configuration card shows the combined effect of all Promotions as a single percentage per field. It does not break the reduction down by category.
To see the individual components, expand the Price table and hover the Unit Price value in the relevant tier row. The Price deduction detail tooltip there splits the combined deduction into its categories — for example Default and Growth Margin — with the regular price before any deduction. See "How to read the Price table" and "Growth Margin — what it is and how it works".
Growth Margin applies at the Distributor tier and never appears in the Customer-facing price.
Apply Seller price adjustment on renewal
An Apply seller subscription price adjustment on renewal toggle sits in the SELLER section, below the three pricing fields. It is always visible, in both Simple and Detailed views, and is enabled by default.
When the toggle is on, the subscription-level Markup is preserved and re-applied at each Renewal cycle. The CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE is recalculated at each Renewal from the then-current COST and the stored Markup percentage.
When the toggle is off, the subscription-level Markup is not carried into the Renewal, and pricing falls back to the catalog configuration.
The toggle label carries a help icon with the tooltip Subscription-level price adjustment is preserved across renewals. To make changes, update this setting before the renewal date. In Detailed view, a description line also appears beneath the label: When enabled, this price adjustment percentage is re-applied at each renewal cycle.
NOTE! This toggle governs the Seller Markup only.
NOTE! Update this toggle before the Renewal date. A change made after a Renewal has been processed takes effect at the following Renewal.
When a renewal-specific catalog adjustment is configured, the Price table shows an extra Catalog Adj. on Renew (%) column with the Markup that will apply at Renewal.
Margin summary
In Detailed view, a row of three summary tiles closes the card. These restate values that are also in the Price table; they are repeated here so you do not have to expand the table for a quick profitability check.
| Tile | Shows | Currency | Price table equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|
| DISTRIBUTOR MARGIN | Absolute margin with the percentage in brackets, for example EUR 0.32 (10.71%) | Distributor cost currency | Distributor row, Margin (ABS) and Margin (%) |
| SELLER MARGIN | Absolute margin with the percentage in brackets, for example MYR 14.23 (49.09%) | Seller cost currency | Seller row, Margin (ABS) and Margin (%) |
| CUSTOMER PRICE | The final price, on a pale-green background, for example PLN 83.67 | Customer currency | Seller row, You Sell For |
Margin is calculated as (You Sell For − You Buy For) / You Sell For. A negative margin means the tier is selling below cost, and the Platform may warn that the Discount results in a loss.
The DISTRIBUTOR MARGIN tile is visible only to users who can see the DISTRIBUTOR section.
Where each Price table value comes from
Every figure in the Price table has a counterpart in the Price Configuration card above it. The two are generated from the same calculation, so if a number in the table surprises you, the card tells you where it came from — and, just as usefully, whether you are allowed to change it.
Distributor row
| Price table column | Comes from | Editable |
|---|---|---|
| Price Source | Partner Prices catalog configuration, or the Price Adjustment Settings popover when a subscription-level override exists | In the catalog, or here via the popover (Price Tier Admin) |
| Catalog Adj. (%) | DISTRIBUTOR PRICE ADJUSTMENT, while it is inherited from Partner Prices (Generic, Vendor or Offer level). Greys out once a subscription-level override is saved | In Partner Prices; saving an edit here promotes it to Subscription Adj. |
| Subscription Adj. (%) | DISTRIBUTOR PRICE ADJUSTMENT, once a subscription-level override has been saved. Greyed out while the Markup is still inherited, and while an edit is pending (badge reads OVERRIDE) | Yes, on both pages (Price Tier Admin) |
| Catalog Adj. on Renew (%) | Partner Prices configuration effective at the renewal date. Greys out once a subscription-level override is saved | In Partner Prices only |
| Total Adj. (%) | Calculated from the two columns to its left | No, computed |
| Margin (%) and Margin (ABS) | DISTRIBUTOR MARGIN tile | No, computed |
| Unit Cost and Unit Price | The unit sub-lines under the DISTRIBUTOR fields in Detailed view | No, computed |
| You Buy For | DISTRIBUTOR COST | No — set by the Vendor |
| You Sell For | DISTRIBUTOR SELLER TARGET PRICE | Yes, on both pages (Price Tier Admin) |
| Vendor Retail Price | Vendor catalog | No |
The Price Source on the Distributor row is the single most important cell to read before interpreting any other value in that row. It tells you whether You Sell For was built from You Buy For (Cost Price) or from the Vendor Retail Price (Retail Price). With Retail Price there is no arithmetic relationship between You Buy For and You Sell For at all — see What Price Source changes.
Seller row
| Price table column | Comes from | Editable |
|---|---|---|
| Price Source | Customer Prices catalog configuration. Decides whether CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE is built from Cost Price or Retail Price | In the catalog only |
| Catalog Adj. (%) | Catalog row of the PRICE ADJUSTMENT BREAKDOWN | In Customer Prices only |
| Subscription Adj. (%) | Subscription row of the PRICE ADJUSTMENT BREAKDOWN | Yes — this is the one Markup stored here |
| Total Adj. (%) | SELLER PRICE ADJUSTMENT, and the Total effective row of the breakdown | Yes, indirectly — typing here recalculates the Subscription row |
| Margin (%) and Margin (ABS) | SELLER MARGIN tile | No, computed |
| Unit Cost and Unit Price | The unit sub-lines under the SELLER fields in Detailed view | No, computed |
| You Buy For | SELLER COST | No — follows from the Distributor tier and the FX rate |
| You Sell For | CUSTOMER PRICE panel and the GRAND TOTAL | Yes, via CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE |
| Vendor Retail Price | Vendor catalog | No |
In the Price table, the Catalog Adj. (%) and Catalog Adj. on Renew (%) cells are clickable. Selecting one opens a dialog showing Effective From, Effective Till, the Price Level badge, and — on the Distributor row — the Price Tier. The Seller's Subscription Adj. (%) cell is also clickable, and shows Effective From and Created By.
Example
In a three-currency setup with a Distributor in EUR, a Seller in MYR, and a Customer paying in PLN, at rates of 1 EUR = 5.00 MYR, 1 MYR = 0.70 USD and 1 USD = 4.1235 PLN:
- DISTRIBUTOR COST reads 2.64 EUR. The Price table shows EUR 2.64 under You Buy For on the Distributor row.
- DISTRIBUTOR PRICE ADJUSTMENT reads 12%, which appears as Catalog Adj. (%) 12 and Total Adj. (%) 12.00 on the same row. The badge reads VENDOR · CP, so the Markup is inherited and applied to Cost Price.
- DISTRIBUTOR SELLER TARGET PRICE reads 2.95 EUR — the Distributor row's You Sell For, shown in the table as MYR 14.76 with ≈ EUR 2.95 beneath it.
- SELLER COST reads 14.76 MYR, with the sub-line 2.95 EUR × FX Rate 5.0000 = 14.76 MYR. This is the Seller row's You Buy For.
- SELLER PRICE ADJUSTMENT reads 10%, built from a Catalog of 0.00% and a Subscription of 10%. The Price table shows Catalog Adj. (%) 0, Subscription Adj. (%) 10, Total Adj. (%) 10.00.
- CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE reads 28.99 MYR, and the CUSTOMER PRICE panel converts it to 83.67 PLN. This is the Seller row's You Sell For: PLN 83.67, with ≈ MYR 28.99 and ≈ USD 20.29 beneath it.
NOTE! If a value in the Price table does not match what you expect from the card, check three things in order: the currency badges, the Price Source column, and whether the Markup is sitting in Catalog Adj. or Subscription Adj. Those three account for most apparent mismatches.
Editing prices
What you can change depends on the page you are on and on your role, not on the view you have selected. The Simple / Detailed toggle controls display only and never affects editability.
| Field | Offer Buy page | Subscription details page |
|---|---|---|
| DISTRIBUTOR COST | Read-only | Read-only |
| DISTRIBUTOR PRICE ADJUSTMENT | Editable (Price Tier Admin) | Editable in edit mode (Price Tier Admin) |
| DISTRIBUTOR SELLER TARGET PRICE | Editable (Price Tier Admin) | Editable in edit mode (Price Tier Admin) |
| Distributor Price Source | Editable via popover (Price Tier Admin) | Editable via popover (Price Tier Admin) |
| SELLER COST | Read-only | Read-only |
| SELLER PRICE ADJUSTMENT | Editable | Editable in edit mode |
| Subscription input in the breakdown | Editable | Editable in edit mode |
| SELLER CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE | Editable | Editable in edit mode |
| Renewal toggle | Editable | Editable in edit mode |
| CUSTOMER PRICE | Computed | Computed |
On the Subscription details page, all fields are frozen until you enter edit mode. Once you do, the fields you can change are outlined and their values turn blue. Change a value, then confirm the edit — all dependent values, including the margins and the CUSTOMER PRICE, are recalculated.
NOTE! The Distributor PRICE ADJUSTMENT and SELLER TARGET PRICE fields are editable only for users with the Price Tier Admin role. Other roles see them as read-only on both pages.
The Price table is read-only on both pages. To change a price, use the Price Configuration fields above it, or manage the underlying catalog through "Customer Prices: Price configuration".
For the full procedure for repricing a live Subscription, see "How to change the price on existing Subscription?".
Summary
The Price Configuration card is where a Subscription's price is assembled and edited. Each tier works through the same three fields — COST, PRICE ADJUSTMENT, and a target price — and each displays them in its own locked currency: the parent contract currency for the Distributor, the incoming price currency for the Seller, and the payment currency for the Customer.
A Distributor Markup can be inherited from Partner Prices at Generic, Vendor or Offer level, or overridden on a single Subscription from either the Offer Buy page or the Subscription details page. The badge on the PRICE ADJUSTMENT label row shows the level and the Price Source, and the popover behind it lets a Price Tier Admin change the source or reset to the catalog level. An override displaces the seller segment Markup for that Subscription and takes effect from the next billing cycle.
Three points are worth carrying away about the Seller tier. It is the Subscription input inside the PRICE ADJUSTMENT BREAKDOWN that stores a Markup; PRICE ADJUSTMENT is the calculated total of the catalog and subscription percentages. The CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE is set in the Seller's own cost currency, and the Platform converts it for the Customer. And COST and CUSTOMER TARGET PRICE form an arithmetic chain only when the Price Source is Cost Price — with Retail Price, the target is built from the Suggested Retail Price instead.
Simple view covers day-to-day pricing work. Switch to Detailed when you need the FX and unit formulas, the Markup breakdown, the margin tiles, or the Pro-Rated Price panel for a mid-cycle Subscription.
The card and the Price table beneath it are generated from the same calculation, so the two always agree. Use the card to configure a price and to see how it is built; expand the Price table when you need margins, unit economics, prorated amounts, or the per-category breakdown of a Promotion.
If a pricing result cannot be explained from either view, submit a support request to AppXite.
