Access customer records
Navigate to Search and select Customers. The Customer card can be opened by clicking on the customer number from the list.
Verify synced customer information
At the beginning of the onboarding process, verify all information that has been synced from the Platform. This includes company name, address, contact name, and currency. PDF invoices will be sent to the email address specified in the Customer card within Business Central.
Configure mandatory posting groups
Three fields are mandatory for customer setup and must be configured before completing onboarding:
General Business Posting Group - Add the appropriate region where the Customer is located.
VAT Business Posting Group - This determines how taxes are calculated for the specific Customer. Select either EU_SERV for countries in the EU or 3rd_SERV for the rest of the world.
Customer Posting Group - Add the appropriate region where the Customer is located.
These posting groups are critical for accurate tax calculations and financial processing.
Set up payment terms
Payment Terms Code in the Payments section determines the due date for invoices. Configure this field according to your agreement with the Customer.
Complete the onboarding process
Once all required information has been verified and configured, remove the "On-Boarding Required" checkmark. This step is essential to prevent billing validation errors.
Summary
The customer onboarding process ensures that all necessary information is properly configured in Business Central before billing operations begin. By verifying synced data, setting up mandatory posting groups, configuring payment terms, and removing the onboarding flag, users can avoid processing errors and maintain smooth billing operations.
