Key concepts and definitions
Dimensions / groups
1. Each Perspective Org can have a parent (“Parent Org”) and a child organization (“Child Org”), often multiple.
2. The Parent Org is the one who sells to the Perspective Org. The Child Org is the one who buys from the Perspective Org.
Examples:
- If Perspective Org is a 1-tier Seller, then:
-
-
-
- Parent Org = Vendor
- Perspective Org = the 1-tier Seller you have access to
- Child Org = End Customer
-
-
- If Perspective Org is a Multi-tier Seller, then:
-
-
-
- Parent Org = Vendor or another Multi-tier Seller
- Perspective Org = the Multi-tier seller you have access to
- Child Org = another Seller (or Multi-tier Seller)
-
-
- If Perspective Org is a Vendor, then:
-
-
-
- Parent Org = none
- Perspective Org = the Vendor you have access to
- Child Org = any Seller or Distributor that buys from you directly
-
-
3. Perspective Org Role:
- Vendor
- Distributor
- Multi-tier Seller – buys from a Distributor or a Seller and sells to another Seller
- Seller – buys from a Distributor or a Seller and sells to the end customer
- 1-tier Seller – buys from the vendor & sells to the end customer
- Customer – end customer
- Unknown (only used when invoice contract tree is incomplete in a specific period).
4. All group definitions:
- Parent Org = Organizations the Perspective Org buys from, usually Vendor or Distributor
- Perspective Org = Organizations you have access to as a Seller Admin or Distributor Admin, usually Distributor or Seller
- Child Org = Organizations the Perspective Org sells to, usually Seller or End Customer
- Perspective Org Role = the roles the Perspective Org represents (e.g., Vendor, Distributor, Seller)
- Child Org Country = “buyer” organization’s country – usually Seller country or End Customer country
- End Customer (Current) = current end customer. If the subscription has been moved, then all historic data will be attributed to the latest customer.
- Vendor / Product / Offer
Measures
Definitions
- Revenue = total amount from outgoing invoices from the Perspective Org.
- Cost = total amount from incoming invoices to the Perspective Org.
- Gross Profit = Revenue – Cost.
- # of Subscriptions = count of active subscriptions, EOM.
- # of Seats = quantity of licenses in all active subscriptions, EOM. Usage subscriptions are considered to have 1 seat.
- # of Orders = count of orders, EOM.
- PoP = period-on-period measures. Either year-on-year or month-on-month depending on the current date context (Year or Year-Month).
- MA## = Moving Average over ## months. Used to smooth out spikes in trends.
Especially useful with invoice data across last 12 months (MA12) as it smooths out spikes due to annual subscription renewals. E.g., same revenue data, but Revenue MA12 measure shows the overall trend much better.
Note – all MA measures require continuous monthly activity to work properly. E.g., MA revenue for a single annual subscription or a small customer may not lead to useful insights.
Currency conversion
1. All values are shown in EUR, USD or Invoice currency (if all invoice are in 1 currency) based on the exchange rate on the invoice date. Or they can be converted based on the latest exchange rate in the platform.
2. E.g., if all your invoices are in NOK, then you will see NOK as the third option. You can then choose it or convert to any currency from the ones listed. To stop conversion, deselect the currency by clicking on it again.
3. Custom exchange rates are currently not supported but will be added in the future.
